Refill Your Cup This International Self-Care Day
Jul 24, 2026

International Self-Care Day falls on 24 July, and the date carries a quiet message. It stands for looking after yourself 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Self-care shouldn't be a treat you earn once the to-do list is empty. It is the steady, ordinary way you stay well enough to hold everything else.
Self-care looks different in every home. It may be a prayer or a moment of stillness, a walk after work, calling your mum in your mother tongue, or cooking a dish that tastes of where you come from. Wellbeing does not follow one script, and it does not have to look like the images we so often see online.
For many of us, rest can feel unfamiliar. We are taught to put family and community first, to stay strong and keep going. Slowing down can feel like letting people down. Yet you cannot pour from an empty cup, and the people who lean on you are better held when you are cared for too.
Care rarely looks dramatic. It lives in small choices, repeated often. This week, you might try to:
Breathe: Take five slow breaths when things feel heavy. It settles you in under a minute.
Move: A short walk or a dance in the kitchen can shift a low mood.
Connect: Reach out to someone who understands you, in whatever language feels like home.
Draw a line: Say no to one thing that drains you, without guilt.
Rest: Put the phone down and let yourself simply be.
At Tala Thrive, we believe care should feel familiar, not foreign, shaped around your culture, your language and your story.
So choose one practice, and return to it. You are worth looking after too.
